Description
Ideal rod for sight fishing with nymphs, laying out line or bow-and-arrow cast. Doubles as perfect tool for fine dry fly and emerger fishing at close to mid-ranges. A wide array of lines are great from a host of WF lines to any DT-4 you can find. It’s an accurate rod and I love it for downstream fishing for grayling using long leaders as well as close-in work under the rod tip. It can produce very narrow loops for precise presentations and its forgiving action can bring and nice trout to the net.
My advice
It’s a delicate and lightweight rod with stunning performance, a lighter 9-foot version of the ”Léguer”. It was named after one of the prettiest chalkstreams of Southern England, the river Anton, tributary of the river Test and a paradise for Grayling fishing. The rod is ideal for all types of fine angling with long leaders and smaller flies. It’s quite at home on smaller to medium-sized waters, 15 to 30 yards wide with finicky trout and grayling. Incredibly lightweight and sensitive, it is a pleasure to fish with. Comes with two identical tip sections.
The rod builder’s note
“This rod oozes “Spring Creek” and it is perfect for the application! Light line, lightweight, lengthy tippet, smaller fly : you are in the game and bigger fish are no problem, otherwise I would not tell you that it is a fabulous rod in fisheries with bigger fish in the 10 lbs range using a 4-weight Rio Aqualux intermediate line, swimming weighed Damsel patterns along weed beds. It does, however, not like being overloaded with a heavier line, this kills the great action altogether.”
