England – Hampshire & Wiltshire

For the ninth (9th) season I am organizing guided fishing trips to England in coming October, November and December (2021). I will help you discover the magic of some of the most beautiful chalk streams in southern England:
- The famous river Test, cradle of modern fly fishing and its magnificent tributaries the Anton, Dever and Itchen (Hampshire, Andover area)
- The Avon, home water of Frank Sawyer (Wiltshire, Salisbury area).
All the stretches we have exclusive access to are in private hands and managed by talented and passionate river keepers, who combine the outstanding skills of fishing bailiffs, fish management technicians and garden specialists.
The waters are very well preserved and managed like parks or gardens. Water flows remain constant and insect hatches (mayflies, caddisflies and stoneflies) are numerous and varied during the late season
The grayling will naturally rise to the surface which allows anglers to dry fly fish all day long, the full 8 hours we will be on the water.
Fish are plentiful with many bigger specimens in lengths between 40 and 50 cm. The clear waters will allow you to sight fish with nymphs, this method being quite thrilling for beginners and experts alike.
The flair will definitely be very British in every sense of the word. Whether you are on your own or travelling as a couple or a family, you will have the opportunity to discover the beauty of autumnal Southern England with its typical hedges, century-old trees in vivid colors and traditional thatched-roof buildings – a perfect landscape for complete relaxation.
A great number of activities for non-angling companions are available: hikes in through the forest, shopping, sightseeing (historic monuments and gardens), etc… The towns of Stockbridge, Andover, Salisbury and Southampton are nearby.
In the evenings, after a day on the water, dinner will be had in one of the local pubs and restaurants.
My offer comprises the access to several kilometers of river stretch each day, fishing for wild grayling and also includes my personal and professional help and assistance.
I do know the waters like the back of my hand and keep a privileged contact with our local partners (inn keepers, river keepers, pubs, etc…). I will assist small groups of up to 3 anglers, for about 2 to 4 days, lodged in very cozy B&Bs located in the immediate vicinity on the water. Upscale lodging in “Relais & Châteaux”-type hotels is also a possibility.
I will welcome you at your arrival at Southampton airport and will take you the fishing grounds and lodging, located but a half hour’s drive from the airport.
